Contemplative living in today's busy world

Over the centuries Christian followers have banded together in orders to form communities that reflect a profound commitment to a spiritual path and to nurture each other together in their spiritual journeys.

Welcome!

Spiritual practices and disciplines such as regular prayer and meditation, journaling, worship and sabbath support us.

Wesleyan Contemplative Vision

Wesleyan Contemplative Order is a community of individuals and small bands committed to opening space for God’ grace to nurture  the process of inner transformation, through contemplative practices as exemplified in Wesley’s means of grace.

Inspiration

"Spirituality is about being ready. All the spiritual disciplines of your life - prayer, study, meditation or ritual, religious vows - are there so you can break through to the eternal. Spirituality is about awakening the eyes, the ears, the heart so you can see what's always happening right in front of you."
Richard Rohr
“St. Teresa of Avila wrote: 'All difficulties in prayer can be traced to one cause: praying as if God were absent.' This is the conviction that we bring with us from early childhood and apply to everyday life and to our lives in general. It gets stronger as we grow up, unless we are touched by the Gospel and begin the spiritual journey. This journey is a process of dismantling the monumental illusion that God is distant or absent.”
Thomas Keating
"The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them."
Thomas Merton

“Though we cannot think alike, may we not love alike? May we not be of one heart, though we are not of one opinion?” – JOHN WESLEY

Wesleyan Theological Roots

We believe that contemplative practices, as understood through the Wesleyan tradition, are one of the most effective ways to develop being and presence with God.
